You lucky moving target readers get to decide on the future of my barnet
Should I shave my dreadlocks off and become more aerodynamic? Keep a cooler head? Have no hair obstructing my field of view when I'm looking for a gap? Be able to wear a cycling cap?
Just vote yes or no, and I will post a picture of the result, whatever that may be.
RE:your barnet dilemma. Why dont you go for the pineapple? That way you have the best of both worlds and you can wear a cycling cap by simply making a hole in the top as one courier I know does. It's just a thought.
Sleepy, everyone agrees you look 10 times more handsome since you had your tresses chopped....so why not recommend the same...scared of the competition?
i think, more importantly, we should be trying to find out who that is in the photo not riding a fixie. he's basically fucked that photo up for everyone. way to go "gearie".
a certain ex-metro rider and dreadsman once had an unusual accident whereby one of his locks, which were very long, got caught up in his front wheel and threw him off the bike!Take heed Iron Eye.
Jon's dreads got caught in his rear wheel a number of times, never his front wheel.
Dave 9 and I had to untangle them on a number of occasions to enable him to get out and deliver the jobs on his monsterous morning run. In hindsight we shouldn't have helped and done the work ourselves.
I had dreads when I was 18, over two decades ago, they are out of date now I believe....I cut mine off, was the best hair move i made in years! DO IT MAN!
I remember when I had my mohawk in dreads (and they were it has to be said pretty skanky crusty dreads) the water used to drain oil-black off them as I lay in the bath, drip drip dripping down the side of the tub and into the water as tried to pretend to myself that I couldn't see it. When I cut them off the inside of them of death pale- the colour of compressed dandruff. Never regretted having them, seriously never regretted cutting them off. Have to agree with Nhatt though, do have a soft spot for them on other people, quite a big soft spot.
I also had a straggly beard before I lost mine, I took one last long look at myself in the mirror then turned the mirror around, removed dreads with a pair of (kitchen) scissors and #2 set of clippers and then shaved me chin, only then did I turn the mirror back around almost scared the life out of myself! If you do lose them, do it 'blind' is top tip.
exactly, Gertie. I'm from a slightly younger generation, so my dreads were bright pink and had about a kilo of glitter dreaded into them. I realized that it was time for them to go after a few years, and spent three drug adled days brushing them out. It was horrible.
If you have the patience to take care of them, keep them, if not then shave them off.
