I've just got some Syntace Stratos bar to stick on my Pompino (previously ran some Midge bars) & would like anyone's opinion/advice on which levers would be best to pair them up with. I have avid sd brakes & i'm looking at all the ones on ebay (tektro, cane creek etc). Having not run bullhorn bars before would appreciate any input. Also would anyone recommend using top levers instead of reverse? i do ride fixed btw.
Would i also need to use a travel agent as i'm using vee brakes?
I got confused by the travel agent. Reading it again, I realise that you mean some sort of attachment that makes the cable pull more ergonomic.
The logical place to put the lever is where your hands are. If you are likely to keep your hands on the flats (next to the stem), then you probably want to put the lever there, and if you are using Vees, I doubt that the springs will be strong enough, so use a sprung lever.
Stick them on the horns best place for them so you can easily put your weight forward if you need whilst braking. Stop wasting bill's time cant you see he is a busy man.
bar end brake levers are the best looking. not sure if they'll work with V's though. used to run reverse brake levers on my time trial bike when I cut the lo pro bars too short. Crapped meself every time I turned into a corner and had problems with the lever slipping out of sweaty hands. fine on deserted country roads, possible death in the city.
