hate is far too strong a word. i am bemused by them sure, occasionally irritated but i never hate them per se. what's your issue with them?

i hate messengers/couriers because they smell like sweat, always wear black(with stupid ripped off sleves in the summer), have bikes that go fast, have bags with stuff inside, they have no respect for traffic laws and other road users and need to get proper jobs!!!

When I started - just after the repeal of the Corn Laws - you couldn't have been a Fakenger because there wasn't a messenger style or look to speak of. So what's happened that so many of us look so alike that we can be copied? Has this 'look' of ours, whatever it is exactly, slowly evolved from experience so that we now wear the most practical clothes and ride the most practical bikes? Or is it possible that it's evolved in the same way that fakengerism has evolved - by people apeing each other, emulating what they think is cool, trying to fit in and 'borrowing' styles from other established hip activities such as skateboarding? In other words Fakengers may seem silly and shallow and unoriginal but are we much better? Haven't we, in a way, faked ourselves and isn't that possibly why so many of us react with such venom towards Fakengers? Because what we see in them is what we don't want to admit about ourselves?
Infact I'd suggest that Fakengers have now evolved into something much less related to couriering than even a year ago as the most dedicated ones buy ever more and more expensive bikes and clothes that you and I would never want to get ruined by using at work. I am afraid they have left us behind and, probably, we can all say good riddance
and get back to finding other targets for our contempt and derision. How about cyclists who are so fucking stupid they think they can ride a bike safely and use a mobile phone at the same time? Don't tell me you...

There's nowt wrong with listening to music while cycling though; it's no different to listening to a CD while driving.

Mobiles are different as they require interaction.
