I had a phone call from some people developing a folding bike wheel today (wed 23rd) -check out www.duncfitz.co.uk/wheel.html for a fuller description. They wanted to talk to bicycle users to get feedback on their product. If anyone is interested in talking to them contact me either directly if you know me or via this thread and I'll set something up. Personally, whilst I would be interested in this if I worked for Brompton or Airnimal et al, I can't see how these would be of any benefit to couriers, though I wouldn't mind meeting them and seeing their product as it looks kinda funky. Love to you all Gertie
I was highly amused the other day to see a guy in a Metro shirt, messenger bag, not sure if there was a radio there, but riding a Brompton through Tower Bridge area.
It looks like a tubular. So these wheels give you the added convenience of requiring a sewing kit and about 1hr to fix a puncture. Although if you're trying to hide a solvent abuse problem from your employer then these wheels give you an excellent excuse to turn up spaced out and stinking of glue.
Had another e-mail from these people and they may be down the John Snow Public House (do I need to add Broadwick St W1? If so- call yourself a courier...) This Fri (May 23rd) from about 6. apparently it does take a normal tyre, sorry no excuses there!
