sucks. it is fucking wrong, especially being done in by a car. but it can happen, it's a fact of life, and one we, as fellow road users, should pay serious heed too.
most (?) of us know a cyclist who died on their bike, and all of us should at least know of someone who died on their bike.
what i'm trying to get at is: i feel horrible for all involved in the death of Matthew Manger-Lynch. the cyclists, the driver, the families, everyone.
i'm going to work tomorrow, knowing i might die getting run over. and i'm going to keep racing alleycats, knowing i might die getting run over.
and i'm going to make damn sure that i'm really, really careful when i'm on the road, sharing it with 2 tonne boxes of metal traveling at high speeds.
I look at it this way: at least I've got a pretty good idea how I'm gonna die. Is that a comfort? On the other hand, when my little brother crashed his plane and died, my first thought was 'I thought I'd be first!'
