Hi there. I was just wondering if anyone knows of any bike messanger companies in the West Midlands; as above. I seen a few around, but can't find any info over the net. Any help would be great. Thanks, Rob
There are in fact two messengers in Birmingham for Network Logistics but they are not looking for any more. Twos enough as it is. If your desperate try City Sprint as they employed someone from Birmingham, they arent the best company to work for but better than nothing if your keen to work on ya bike.
City Sprint don't have cyclists anymore. The job entailed dragging around huge machine parts from Erdington to West Bromwich which is clearly better suited to vans. On top of that they are not a good company to work for if you like to get paid. Nuff said.
But bikergrrrrrrrrl, there aren't two messengers. There is one. That one works full time, and the other guy works when the full-time one is on holiday. Which is very rare. So that doesn't really equal two messengers, does it.
Who the hell are you anyway and how do you seem to know so much about us? I'm a bit worried that someone is stalking us
By the way if anyone reading this is considering working for citysprint, do yourself a favour and stay on the dole. If you're desperate to ride your bike you could just pedal round town all day, occasionally collecting job descriptions from the jobcentre and delivering your CV to potential employers. At least you'd be guaranteed 80 quid a fortnight then.
Some guy told me about this awesome bike courier job in Birmingham, sounds rad! Ok, so what we do is we show up to work for this "company" right where they give us this awesome uniform which includes dickies and a huge bag with one strap, we even get these fancy bikes with no brakes! We have to answer our telephones on the loudspeaker setting and "deliver" these special forms (they say "Job Seekers Allowance" on them, not sure if thats relevant though) to an important "office" and then "collect" an envelope which we then "deliver" to the bank. Sounds wicked!
If your really serious about earning poor money for doing a shit job then my less cynical side (!) suggests that you go to critical mass and find the people mentioned above who are thinking of starting a company. If you look elsewhere on this site setting up your own company means giving up any notion of taking any days off or holiday at all for at least a few years or else risk losing your customers, who probably won't use you again if you say 'sorry, can't do any deliveries for the next few weeks - im taking a holiday!'. If you're really committed to this then good luck to you, because it would actually be nice to see more faces on circuit - especially since Iron Eye/MoD doesn't actually have a human face, having had it removed to avoid revealing his internet identity.
