One can skid anything, although why you'd want to is a whole different kettle of fish. I wouldn't advise locking the back wheel whilst seated, stand up towards the front of the bike and push back from the handlebars allowing the back wheel off the ground initially to defeat the resistance.
If i was riding 88" by the time I'd got rolling I wouldn't want to stop, but that's just because I'm a pansy spinner.
If you care about skidding the whole time use a lower gear, if you want to get where you are going stick with it, but make sure you use a good pedaling motion and don't try and force the bike up to speed too quickly.
I'm guessing you aren't working on a bike with that ratio.
Yeah I think I will sacrifise the posibility to skid the whole time and will keep my ratio high. I like pushing big gears it keeps you hungry for speed :)))). Worked all summer on 52-16 singlespeed.
"hyperbole- see the above's username re:fixed 52/16."
