I used to spend about 2 quid on a jacket potato at lunch then the same on a baguette-du-monde later on, plus 50p on a couple of pounds of bananas. maybe a couple of flapjacks or slices of cake too just in case. luckily i get free tea and coffee at work. thats a fiver or more a day, 25ish a week.

Now I am skint this month but still eating about the same amount but only eating cold food preparing it at home first, I reckon by making my own baguette sarnies and cake (but no jacket potatos) I am spending about a tenner a week.

    How much do you spend?

I've managed to locate an Iranian caviar importer near the M25 who's prepared to sell to me at wholesale rates....so that's severley cut my weekly food budget, that and making my own blinis of course.

used to spend £2 in the sandwich man/brick lane bagels most days. on fridays i'd have a nice wonk for £3.80.

winston's diet brings a whole new meaning to the term "fed courier"

always went for the fried quai due, they do some pretty advanced carniverous offal stuff though which may be more to your liking considering your penchant for fish eggs.

I used to go to Bar Bruno (not anymore - the chef's gone, and so has Luisa) and get minestrone soup, a bread roll and a massive plate of pasta for around £6.50. Oh boy, yummy.

fried quai due is ho fun [fat] noodles with shrimp, pork, onion, peppers, egg, chillies and turmeric. it's fuckin ace, massive plate + all the tea you can drink for £3.80  it used to be the friday meal of choice for pretty much the entire anderson young fleet back in the day.

yes that meal pictured looks bloody orrid, similar to lotta's crab and spunk meal she had when she was in town (at a different restaurant).

    you nose it!

i've actually gone pescatarian [no meat but fish], so i'm a bit worried about my next visit to the wonk. their veggie starter is the nuts tho- but a wonk with no pork, the horror!

Problem was, the entire AY fleet used to head for the Wonk at the SAME TIME on friday afternoon, so poor Alan suddenly found himself with no riders except Timmy. He used to ring us up and plead with us to return to work I recall- inevitably with little success. Ah, i feel all rosy tinted and nostalgic now.

This is the only time that I find being vegan hard work.

In london I would spend about a fiver on a tofu sandwich and an apple, or if I was really skint, a couple of quid on hummus and some sort of cracker. When I worked for cyclone I would get tesco soup sometimes to suppliment the cracker and hummus lunch option.

In NYC I try and find some sort of a burrito place, but altogether too often I end up with a bagel ($.60) to tide me over till dinner, or some sort of energy bar and a bottle of gatoraide.

The good part is they have a bar in brooklyn that does a can of lager and a veggie dog for $3.

It's ok, you can pity my liver. I do.
