sorry, but i couldn't resist. i dont wear leather shoes myself but i dont use toe clips either so i cant help you, sorry. i think most of shimano's shoes are fake leather but they only do spd shoes dont they, apart from their 'skate' type shoes, which actually have pretty flexible soles, and look crap, plus theyre too chunky for toeclips. so i dunno.

    Cons?

i thought cons and chucks were the same thing...
  2.
    Are they?

Don't speckelized make an all synth lace-up?

I think your options are pretty limited. Shitmano made a lorica upper, plastic sole but it's spd. No good.

Why don't you just stick with spuds? Lot less hassle than clips, specially if your achilles get sore when you ride with 'normal' shoes. That's what happens to me when I ride soft soles for any amount of time.

    What does little Scot ride?

Scot does NOT wear birkies! That is a gross slur on his credibility, and I DEMAND that you retract it at once!

Seriously, all birkies have some leather don't they?

shell toes all the way innit

@bill- i went back to straps after getting tendonitis in both achilles [stretching- what the fuck's that?], i find it far more comfy. further more walking across marble floors in worn out sidis is far more dangerous than the roads.

Yeah, I don't know, I guess it's personal. You get achilles problems with clipless, I get them without...

Obviously, I started BEFORE clipless, so had been using clips and straps because of necessity not choice.

When spds came along nearly everyone switched from clips and straps. So it's wierd to see people switching back. IYSWIM.

i cut my achilles heel in half once with bear-trap pedals, the tendon hanging out looked a bit like chicken. i ended up with blood poisoning which led to a good kidney infection. ahh... those were the days. i ride spd's now and just deal with the knee problems.

bill didn't you start before pneumatics?

i guess it's just part of the retro thing, albeit a part with some practicality.

@p44- OUCH!!! sounds fucking excruciating, 6 weeks in plaster?

@ sleepy: nah they wouldn't plaster it "because it would lead to infection", which i got anyway. i just had all these weird bandages with exciting names like zetrahydropoxical surgeon masking band. think i'll stick to trepanning in the future.

fuck veganism, i want some of these:

no idea what they're like for getting into clips n straps but they can't be any worse than those odessas that look more than a little wide [that's generally a bad thing btw]. they'd look wicked with my new tyres

introduced, for sure - look where your xmas gifts get you. however, you seem to missing the point. it's not about who had them first or what have you, because clearly i'd lose. the point is that i have a yellow bicycle NOW, therefore you (and anyone else i know) can NOT. :middlefinger:
