Anyone want a once very splendid Columbus Max frame? Handbuilt by Chas Roberts in 1993, and displaying the fillet brazing for which Chas is famous, this frame has evidently not been well cared for.
Nothing is bent and it runs fine (I did 500 miles on it last summer), but on shotblasting recently I discovered there are a few holes in the steel. The largest (~2mm) is on the underside of the downtube. There are also some pinprick pits on both chainstays. I figured I would start from scratch with a new frame at Barrie Witcomb's.
Anyway, this would be a project for someone who was handy with the epoxy and wanted a nice ride for going down the shops.
I can't find my tapemeasure to do any measurements, but it'd be for someone tall. I'm 6'1" and it's ok, a shade on the large side. Columbus Max is the favoured tube set for big, fat blokes, who like to ride over cobblestones. Vertical dropouts, so fixie fetishists can forget it.
FREE to anyone who'll pick up from me in Waterloo.
If no one wants it on the basis of this, maybe I'll stick up a few photos and find my tapemeasure.
