Have any of you ever got one? I just got pulled over by the police for rolling through a light at a mind bending 5 mph. No pedestrians and no cars in sight. No ticket but a long lecture on cycle safety.

I think I got 2 total. One I got when I wasn't in the mood for a lecture, and told the police officer to either go away or give me a ticket.

When I first started as a courier for some no name fly by night set up based out of Hoxton square I did not know east from west. We used to hang out in the hole, it was shite. 10 dockets was a result.

I pulled an illegal right out of Old Broad st, followed by an illegal left into Bishopsgate. Busted by a ubber smug motorcycle plod. “Are you aware that you have just made two illegal turns?”

“Sorry? No I don’t know east from West yet”

He gave me one ticket instead of two an informed the DHSS. Two weeks latter I was called in for an interview.

“We have reason to believe you are working and claiming benefit?? Sign off or we will investigate.”

I signed off and went to work for Southbank couriers, where the controller supported West Ham and you could earn more than £25 a day.

    Now I even pay tax..

Oh I got chased by a police on a pushbike @ the arse end of Old St. He gave me a ticket for jumping the red and threatened to inform the DVLA because my driving license had the wrong address on it, £1000 fine he said.. I’m thinking he was bullied at school.

Was that the city plod who was so miserable that it was rumoured that the reason why he was the only bike cop ever seen solo was that he was so grumpy that even the other cops couldn't stand him?

He had a grey mustache. And a bleak outlook.

Only once. Through Battersea Park. On one of the roads through the park that are marked as no cycling but which at least mean you don't ride on the footpaths which are demonstrably not for cycling on.

Pulled over by a Parks Plod who was driving a blinkin' transit van. He virtually ran me off the road in order to stop me to give me the ticket.

To this day I rue not arguing the case in the mags court to get him cited for dangerous driving. Nowt would have come of that but it might have made me better.

Thank god I'm not the only one then, I was afraid I was just a super muppet or something.

I probably could've blown him off as he was on foot and 'supposed' to be guarding the chinese embassy, but I was very well behaved.

No ticket just a long lecture after a slow red light jump at Fleet Street maybe 2 years ago. Plod on wheels.
I always start polite then see how it progresses. Tobe fair the Plod was more interested on my thoughts regarding
    red light / give ways.
Got an earful from a ped in Oxford Street "you dont stop at red lights, you c--ts." ( I waited for him to cross ) whilst he was ipoded up. He did not want to have a chat..
The recent press activity is getting through. Not sure its positive.
    Regards

The Chinese Embassy was closed for a few days last week (Mayday) and I noticed their plod hanging about in the middle of the road, so I waited.

I got a long lecture from a motorbike cop who accused me of passing him too fast. He took the opportunity to pull me over when I went through a red.

I got ticketed in the City of London one morning north of Blackfriars Bridge for rolling through red. The copper said that the largest volume of complaints came from peds regarding cyclists.

Yeah, I recall being told by the officer in charge at Marylebone station (Seymour Street) that he got more complaints about cyclists on the pavement than any other 'crime'.

once going up a one way in the city, there was seven of them, used to try to make a quick exit...if that failed try to assess their attitude, they usually just want to tell you off....nod your head, say it's out of character...blah....blah....if you're pretty sure you're gona get a ticket you may as well be as obstreperous as you can be without crossing the boundary of common assault.....always make a point of visibly noting there numbers at beginning of "conversation"
