The ECMC is in Edinburgh next year! Pre-event in London, Post-event in Glasgow and on Millport for Millportpoloco vi or vii? Nobody can really remember which one it is and neither will you! Especially if you mess with 16yr old beauticians in the George Hotel ;)
We will keep you updated with dates and other news as soon as we can. Working hard to get a really good venue for the main race and dates will be follow soon after we get confirmation.. watch this space.
Thought we would start this thread to ask you, the courier community, what you would like to see at the ECMC next year and if you have any tips or advice worth bearing in mind.
What do you think about an all girl alleycat at ECMC?We had one here a few years ago where the boys were at the checkpoints in drag. There is nothing couriers like more than wearing drag and drinking beer.I am doing it right now! I would love to see some silly races/stunts too.I missed them in ECMC Budapest,I was too hungover and had to get drunk again, but the first BICCC had small bike jousting which was ridiculously funny. And something that involves setting things alight, that is always a winner.By thw way,I can't f*cking wait for this!!
Dam wish i could make it. How about firering rockets out of milk bottles at couriers or an alley cat trawling second hand shops ?At the start of the race your given a list, skirts for the boyos trousers for the girls ect .The winner ov will be the first past the post but you could judge who looks the most Ab Fab.Good luck with it all Bro
How about a pedestrian crossing with a bunch of couriers dressed in oversize sumo wrestling suits doing the funky chicken where couriers get penalized if struck and even more penalized for falling off?
There was talk of making a 'wall of death' for the Brits this year, but it never happened. If we start scavenging wood now, we might be able to get it together, or a human rollercoaster, setup. Or what about just asking red bull for the mini drome. What do you think about the mini drome?
I dont know Edinburgh as a city at all I'm afraid, and have very little experience of organising races etc. There is a killer skatepark at Livingston though, thats the extent of my knowledge of that area.
However, my speciality is roots and reggae music, so I can offer, along with several of the London music people I know to come and play at one of the parties inna roots reggae style.
I know this not to everyone's taste however.
If a proper roots soundsystem is required (like 3 stacks the same as Aba Shanti / Jah Tubbys uses) I can, with a bit of time, get it sorted. I'd need to know the date, size of prospective venue and what size sound system you lot need. I have contacts with some big name sound systems the only drawback is they will want paying for travel expenses because they do it for a living and it may be out of budget range of us lot!! We're talking van / truck hire, DJ / MC expenses, and a coupla crew / box boys to shift the speakers / control tower. Probably around £400 upwards for the people I know.
To put this in perspective Aba Shanti takes around £1000 minimum a booking in London but he's at the top of the roots hierachy.
I'm more than happy to come and play some reggae on my own for you lot as a DJ at the party and help out with checkpoints etc and get stuck in to a big bottle of Buckfast. When were you thinking of holding the event?
I'm sure if its anything like the Korsan Bar / Foundry LCEF parties a couple hours of reggae would be nice along with different bands and other genres of music so theres something for everyones taste. Spread over several days I can play a couple hours every night if your stuck for music. I'll even entertain you in your own home if someones putting me up for the night (Bum of course would need to lend me his fabled silky mini dress for this)
Nice one. That sounds ace man. So far, we know we will probably have Kerr on the Decks and Madafaka (shitting your faces off). At the moment we are putting all our efforts into getting a venue for the main race. After that we will get the other stuff sorted. Will defo keep you in mind man.
Looking at a date from mid June to early July. Will let you asap.
Sorry Pistette, I'd forgotten. Little Mermaid it is then. BUT ONLY if I can still wear high heels, like a slutty little mermaid...although on reflection they have flippers, don't they- this might not work.
Hey,hey..the all-girl alleycat is very probably gonna happen during the pre-event in London...i sent an email to Eva about the Madrid guys wanting to share some documents and their experience with you so get in touch with them..all the best with the organisation...and some of us will defenitely be up for helping out..also if you want to get in touch with Fish, he organised the main race in Warsaw and his race concept and computer program (created by Bega) can be adapted to Edinburgh and your racecourse..it was a great race and the parallel running of the Messenguerilla race was added fun..let me know if you need a contact for him...or Brian should have his contacts...hope to see some of you at the London Calling the last weekend of September...
