Metro were the first company in London to issue PAC bags to their riders. If you want to own a piece of courier history I am selling my PAC to raise funds for my trip to New York.Considering it has been used almost every working day for the past six or seven years it is,apart from a crack in one of the female clips on the flap, still in good nick, though as you'd expect,it isn't as water resistant as it used to be.It comes with external straps and the elastic ones that attach to the loops that we use to carry small tubes. It's one of the original Deluxe designs and is better made than the mass produced City Sprint or Reuters PAC bags that rider's are using these days.It has also been my companion through nine alleycat wins and three ECMC's.This bag has some tales to tell and I'm gutted I gotta sell it.I want £100 for it. I might persuaded to go lower.Call in at Metro for a look.
Cos you had one of the mass produced ones? I know the ones at Reuters were just satchels with an x strap and that the run for Shitty Stink was huge, so quality was down. My Scream one and my Oversize have lost smaller buckles (you can get new ones from Brick Lane tho) and stitching has worn out in places (use dental floss to do repairs- learn that in philly works REALLY well, REALLY strong). Anyways both my bags, the oversize in particular never let me down at work including taking what was probably one of the heaviest runs ever at Metro? I know backpacks are now replacing oldschool style bags and are probably better than traditional messenger bags for the back but I still think Pac make the best traditional messenger bags out there? If your bag fell apart, contact Pat (the owner) shes a pretty nice woman and is a former messenger herself so understands the stress the bags go through, she might be willing to repair it for free if she feels the fault lies at there end.
Its a shame to see OD selling his pac bag, if I had the money right now I'd lend it to him rather than see him sell one of his bags... but then I'm far too sentimental about all my old messenger gear to get rid of most of it? Plus when I tried to give some of it away only wayne 66 and I think Janky seemed to want most ofit? Those holes in the shoulders were for extra ventilation....
