So I'm on this frame building trip in the US, and Doug Fattic in Niles, Michigan says I should go and see a few people in Philadelphia. I was staying in Brooklyn so I get the Chinatown bus (TICKET! TICKET!) for 10 dollars and chuck the Brompton in the luggage compartment. Anyway, I get to Phillie and cycle miles up Germantown Avenue, through a ghetto, over cobbles and over tram tracks up a massive hill on a wally bike to get to Engin Cycles. Working there is a British ex-pat by the name of Simon Firth. We get chatting and it only bloody turns out that he used to work for Go Betweens (as did I for 2 years). Used to go by the name "Horse" apparently and knows Buffalo Bill don't you know. He's also worked for Bilenky cycles in Phillie for years as a frame builder. We end up having a few beers together and I crash at his place (not in a gay way). His mate gives us a lift back to Brooklyn so Simon can show off his first bike under his own marque, "Hanford" at a bike swap meet. And very nice it was too. See, couriers can sort their sh*t out. I'm in a hostel in Boston, so can't upload some of the great pictures, and I'm too much of a muppet to have brought my own laptop, but there's some stuff here that I've managed to upload via the hospitality of the good people of America. By the way it's sunny.
I was going to mention that you should include Bilenky & put you in touch with Horse, but it seemed like you had the whole thing sorted out. Glad that you bumped into him!
