Hey all, we've been thinking for a while about putting a bid for next year's ECMC...trying to work out if enough people would be interested in getting this big project off the ground....preliminary meeting next Wednesday around 7 somewhere in Clerkenwell ( the Horseshoe, Clerkenwell Close tbc) so if you want to get involved, come along.....
Count me as an enthusiastic helper, wc1 beer festival prevented me from attending! (bidborough st wc1 tomorrow and fri (10-11 march) if anyone likes real ale and cider...)
Thanx to all people who turned up for this preliminary meeting, about 15 of us crammed around a table to throw ideas and see whether we wanna go ahead with this project..and looks like we do...so first step will be to get in touch with potential racecourses (we have a few in mind) and councils..the second major step will be to contact sponsors and establish budgeting....so if you have any contacts, ideas, wisdom that you wanna share with us, get in touch....next meeting will be in 2 weeks...venue tbc..if you wanna get involved, come along...got a good feeling about this...
Hey Steph, wont be able to make tomorrow but count me in for catering support, too early to talk about food im sure, but I can organize mass feeding no probs. Catch up with you soon...
So are we still meeting at cyrstal palace at 1? if so I'll meet you at dalston Steph at about 12 ish, can you send me your number just in case im running late.
also I just checked my email, Looks like Chrome might be interested and seagull bags aswell in providing some sponsorship, I also contact Pac bags, timbuk2, motorola, chain reaction and wiggle today I also got the contact details for red bull. will do some more tomorrow morning as im in the office for a couple of hours.
so 2 positive replys out of 8 emails today isnt a bad start, still waiting to hear back from the rest.
I got some contacts at red bull, I can talk to them if you want. If you want them to pit up some cash you will need to approach them with a tight proposal.
Just quickly, in regard to starting up a ltd co with charitable status:
The following forms need to be done: - IN01 - Memorandum (in this case) without share capitol* - Articles of Association
I've checked and ECMC2012 is available for a co name.
No solicitors are required, you can do it yourself. Cost is around £20 for 8-10 day standard service or £50 sameday if received by 3pm.
Haven't really had the chance to go through properly but I think one thing to consider would be the registered business address. However you can use a PO Box as long as you give the complete physical addy including postcode.
*It's here you set up what happens when it gets dissolved. Being a ltd co by guarentee (as opposed to ltd by share holders) there's no share capital or share holders and any profit made would have to go back into the organisation however you can specify where you would want the money to go at the end, LCEF.
As I say I haven't gone into it properly yet and I'm sure it's a lot more arse ache than I've made it sound but it is do able and cheap.
