Sup? There have been a few alleycats where I live and so far they've all been mostly with checkpoints given up-front, at the start of the race. I'd like to organise some myself soon, so that the current organisers and helpers can ride in some and because I reckon I'd enjoy running one. I'm thinking of putting in some kind of point-to-point features, or make the whole race like that, BUT I am concerned about heavy bunching and everyone just following the leader. Ours is only a small city and the races attract quite a mix of riders, some couriers, fixie fans, students on mountain bikes, etc. What is the normal approach to spreading out the pack at the start of the race? Should the first checkpoint be a long way off and/or have several good routes to get there? Or do they ever use a staggered start like in time trials? That could work, too.
If you wanna break up the pack make sure the first CP is a long schlep.Throw some hills in there too if there are any. Also, make it difficult to find.Somewhere like the end of a dark alley where I'll be waiting with my shorts down and my grizzled nutsack exposed. You can set the riders the grim task of kissing my ballbag. That should break up the pack.Cheers.
What overdrive said. or. Distract all the starters with some big pre race talk while your accomplice sneaks round the back and lets all their tyres down. which also sorts men from goats etc. we once tried giving all the racers fireworks before the start, this approach is not to be recommended.
i<ll never forget being in Thialand ,one ov the islands, some clown had a smoke in a firework shop, the rest is history. We marched the twat back to his hut, expesive fag
