Well, its that time of year. Grey skies and drip drip drip - shut up I'm not talking about July you muppet at the back!
Er, so anyone know where I can get, as cheapas possible, good waterproof shoes, and bib tights? Ebay seems to be ok, but I'd rather buy it in person from a shop in London whilst at work.
And Primark leggings £3 according to Wayne - any good? (Anticipates big lol).
Might check Decathlon in Surrey Keys soon, didn't get any luck in TK Maxx the other day either BTW.
another says wear clothes that are warm and dry quickly.
my personal preference was goretex oversocks (they go over your socks, inside your shoes) and jacket and a range of shorts, tights and gloves to suit weather/warmth- though gauging which to wear was always a challenge. i think the last winter i did may have been very mild but i didn't place nearly as much importance on specialist clothing as when i started having gotten used to what it feels like being cold and wet AKA HTFU.
Cheers Sleepy - big respect to all couriers that have survived a winter. I feel like I'm on a diving board about to make the jump off and head on in, bring it on! Er, I got great jacket, and those socks already nd second Sleepy on his opinions of them. Cheap tights are the question. . .
i would recommend a decent pair of bib cycling tights like Endura , then wear a pair of Dickies over the top or some sort of tru that drys fast .Ive tried crap leggins over cycling shorts but they didnt last ,they sagged and were cold and i looked like a chav from Dalston
The Decathlon lycra bottoms lasted me two winters, somehow. Those under a pair of your usual shorts should suffice.
I invested in a Buff, which made the difference when the cold headwinds came along. It'll cover from your neck to the top of your nose. Which makes you look like a cool ninja, although don't fuck it up by not acting like one.
Got some cheap tights off eBay - seller gough2008 is worth checking. £12 aint bad.
Got a decent Gore bikewear jacket, waterproof socks and other bib tights too (unfortunatly not from eBay!). Cheers again for the advice / pisstaking.
Shoes next on list, Black Magic's shoe choice is one worth checkin out - cheap as f'#k astroturf football shoes believe it or not, and he reckons they're waterproof. Check em out if you see him on the road I'm serious, off to look around JD Sports or similar chav emporium to see for myself soon as I get time
I Managed to get a calaway Goretex golf jacket off ebay for £30, works a treat. seal skin socks and gloves, need to get some new water proof trousers but ebay is definitely a good place to start looking
