I reckon that any bag is good for a year of daily courierierierringing / messagying / messing / messengererrringgggg, after that either the water-proofing was gone, or the strap was worn.
The best liner in any bag I used was the Zo, but even that showed signs of wear after 18 months daily use, and the strap was gone after 12.
Used Timbuk2, years ago, when they were good. Lasted about 4 years, but wouldn't buy one now. Pockets are too small and corners of the bag wear too quickly.
Bailey Works, beautiful bag, most comfortable I've ever used, but the waterproofing cracked after a year. Too light.
ReLoad, pretty, but too wide for little old me, wrapped practically the whole way around my chest. Fabric was stiff for aaaaaages, strap got threadbare really quickly.
Pac, best I've used so far... stupid expensive, but I reckon if I'd invested in one years ago, my list here would be much smaller. Used one 2 years non-stop on the road and it looked brand new after that. Waterproofing is covered in an extra layer so it's not exposed to sharp edges etc. and wears much better. Highly recommended.
Had a few pac bags over the years, sold two of 'em and current one has six years of hot courier action to it's name. If the strap on your bag goes after a year then how the hell is that a decent bag?As I've probably said a thousand times on here, the pac ultimate is the king of courier bags!Redrum carried a whole ladies bike in his last week by using the straps!
Ben, I was on the road while you were still figuring out how to take the stabilisers off your bike, and in those days the only water-proof fabrics were plastic or, if you were of a certain age, cotton-duck!
