It's been interesting seeing the cycling scene developing over the last few years. It's obviously got a whole lot bigger but also slightly more fragmented as people follow their chosen passions, be it time on the track, pulling tricks, polo, alley cats or simply time at the pub. Obviously you see a few faces at more than one but you also get a lot of people sticking to their chosen 'tribe'.
I've seen these tribes develop and I figured it might fun plan to get these different tribes competing with each other over various disciplines in a 'clash of the codes' with representatives from each of the relevant tribes. Tribes would be represented by three riders who would then have to compete across all events which would hopefully make for some comic performances. Hopefully you'd see a bit of friendly rivalry but also bring people together that might not have seen each other in a while
Proposed teams
Trixie Dix/Chix Polo Trackies Messengers Roadies

Track Stand Competition (or something of the sort) Polo Herne Hill Race Alley Cat Roller Racing Drag Sprints Something involving booze and riding
This is just an idea at this stage but definitely keen to hear from other people as to whether they'd think it would fly. Definitely give credit to London Calling for inspiration and definitely keen to avoid any clash with any messenger events (does someone have a calendar of dates coming up?).
Only at a very early stage currently but keen for feedback and also for a guide to interest from the London courier community, as by rights, they should probably be the sharpest team.
Hey Gus, I hope this doesn't sound negative but the only thing I can see most couriers being interested in on the list is the alleycat and of course the drinking. Most of it goes on at the ECMC's and I'd say that an event like this organised by non-couriers or non-exengers wouldn't be so appealing as we've all been doing this stuff anyway. I could well be wrong so let's see what others have to say on it.
Totally understand where you're coming from. Happy to work it as an LCEF fundraiser as long as there's lots of support and as long as entry is reasonable. Could definitely do with some more experienced hands when it comes to this kind of thing and there are some faces I'd love to see who I haven't seen around in a while
