Even if this is a succsess, what pityful amount do you expect raise and how much of a tear drop into the ocean will it be, two tents and a sleeping bag. great, thanks, I hear the Haitians shouting. This is going to make a great difference to our lives. The rest of the world is capable of sending the required aid Haitis way, this would be a greater benifit to the bike messenger charity.
20% of every dollar raised by UNICEF is spent on admin.
POSTPONED to Friday 12th March, for anyone interested in raising a "pityful" amount and experiencing a "great difference in their lives". That's what it's all about.
"20% of every dollar raised by UNICEF is spent on admin. "
Admin is a catch-all term. For instance, if you have local field-workers on salaries, someone has to take care of their pay, contracts etc. That cost would come under admin, and, in my view, would be money well spent.
"Even if this is a succsess, what pityful amount do you expect raise and how much of a tear drop into the ocean will it be, two tents and a sleeping bag. great, thanks, I hear the Haitians shouting."
If your house has been utterly destroyed, then a tent and a sleeping bag would more than welcome, I reckon.
The amount might be pitiful, but what's the better alternative that you are proposing? Don't we have enough money to spare some for Unicef as well as the LCEF?
Considering the LCEF managed to collect a whopping £650 at the rolla a couple of weeks ago i would say it might be fair play to redirect a few pounds to this disaster fund - it might reach 10 degrees by Friday so I'm up for crawling out of my shell to give this race a crack.
I'm hoping this will take the LCEF rolla night success as an example! 10 degrees is a good start. Now, if i manage not to turn up 2 hours late, even better. I'll be at Foundry from 6ish for anyone who wants to register, looking to start around 7:30. We've got the HOP cursed manifests, spoke cards with the wrong date, a modest number of prizes and obviously no flyers, so...hopefully see you all friday.
Yeah. I think there's a rumour Sarah might actually turn up this week :)
Thanks to the ever-awesome folks at Brixton Cycles for their generosity with the prizes, and we've also got stuff from Charge, Crumpler, 42 Below, Cadence, Vans, and a host of others. The spoke cards still have last weeks date though, so dont go expecting too much in the way of professionalism..
Sweet! This might also be an opportunity to crown the king and queen of the points series 2009 - been waiting for the right moment to present the winners' yellow jerseys..
