I just arrived a couple months ago in London with my bike and I want to be a courier, but as I have no experience and am foreigner, It is quite difficult. Do you know any companies ready to accept a trial for newcomers ?

    Merci

Hey im new to this site and hopefully am going to be a courier for Churchill express by the end of the week.

My question is this company any good? Because from what I gather from reading all over this site is that no one works for them or just does not talk about them.

However a jobs a job. Just want to get some real info on them.
    thanks.

did they offer you a guarantee? If not they'll do it in a week or two, and I'd wager it'll be £200-£250 a week.

churchill stinks, controllers are retards, youll be knackered at the end of everyday with no cash.and that dude TIM is an asshole, tell him 04 says fuck you!
if you wanna work 50h a week and get 200quid or their top G of amazing 275, go for it.

but i guess you gotta start somewhere, and there are worse places so...

Churchills really does suck donkey dick. Graham, who became pretty much full-time pushbike (and motorbike - all one channel) controller, was the only thing that kept me there for the last month of my service, and now he's finally fled. Last I heard, their radio system had broken down, but instead of fixing it, they just do it all by XDA now. It's not the fact that they do their work by XDA which bothers me, it's the fact that they're only doing that because they didn't get round to fixing it.

If you ever have the severe misfortune of working under Faye, I wish you good luck because you're going to need it.

If you work for Churchills, you'll either find yourself bored in the cold, or doing endless awfully-planned runs for a pittance, tediously yo-yo'ing back and forth from west to east to a positively dizzying degree. It won't be until you work for a better company (i.e. no guarantee) that you'll really start gaining the skills you need if you want to make some decent money out of this job (a prospect which isn't totally impossible at the moment, depending on your standards).

Also, their office is out in fucking Acton. Not a fun ride. And Tim is an asshole. When I sat down for my 'interview', I felt like I was partaking in a low-budget, thumbs-down pastiche of Snatch. His backwater office is a miasma of foreboding and ill will. Within mere seconds of setting foot on the premises I was overcome with an alarming feeling of trepidation, the kind that stirs your intuition and warns you that you're signing up for something unworthy of your time.

So many better companies out there, companies where working your way up to 'respected rider' position can be worth it, relatively speaking.

  1.
i started working for churchill's last month, and i dont think they're too bad. Admitedly not all the routes they devise for you make sense, but i was offered a guara of 275, which i always top, so im not too bothered. The lack of radio at the start did take a lot of getting used to, and although they use the phone's a lot, i really dont think it does them any favours, info can be communicated so much quicker on radio's instead of pressing a button and just waiting. If they can see u can get around town quick then they will work you to bone, and bleed u dry for you guarente, but it beats freezing on a park bench (each to their own). and yeah they're offices are a bit depressing, but who cares, i dont work there....
  2.
having said all that, i think im still in the honeymoon stage.......
