    I'm from Manchester and thinking of moving to London in November/December. No experience....young, fast, healthy etc.. plus I cycled about 2000 miles touring Europe in Aug/Sept. Are my chances gonna be high for getting a start at that time of year? Logic says yes but I'd be interested to know of other peoples experience before I make the jump.

    Nice one. I never checked all the way to the bottom of that thread before, some good info.

    One final question... I'm currently riding a refurbished 20yo Muddy Fox hardtail with road tires; will it harm my chances not having a road bike?

    Not really - people ride all sorts. (And I'd love to meet your bike - I spent my formative years on a 1987 Muddy Fox hardtail.)
