There hasn't been one for a while I think but I noticed in New York they're having one on October 9 which is a friday. What about appreciation day then alleycat later?Maybe with the LCEF involved?
I've always though that having to organise your own appreciation day sounded pretty tragic, so instead I keep my own self esteem up by giving myself a little pat on the back every time I manage to get 50 consecutive deliveries to their correct addresses. The Alleycat and LCEF bumf sounds good though, I'll help you out there.
maybe to expand it a bit including some arty/bikey stuff? the foundry's basement is a good showroom, i have all my prints from the show wrapped up over my wardrobe longing for air, and i think they show some appreciation for couriers : ) i'm sure messengerdom is plenty of talents with works to show, like selim for instance... it shouldn't be difficult to fill up the space, why not putting on a sort of exhibition/show/whatever, along with the alleycat and the usual friday night appreciation? also, few people were (hope still are) interested in my book, in printing it cheaper and make it available for "sales". i'd love to do so, covering the production costs and giving the rest -if any rest is left-to the lcef? what do you guys think, yes, not, crap?
@overdrive, do you still want the limited edition version of it ?
Thanx Xander,Dazzler and Lisa.I'll get organasised next week which means I'll be calling you all so you'll have something to look forward to! @Lisa Yeah I still want the limimted edition but the cash isn't there at the moment, can you save a copy for me? RE:Foundry arty/bikey stuff. We had an exhibition of courier art and photos last year as part of London Calling II which was a success but took a lot of work and arguing to sort out but if you wanna ask around to see what others think then go ahead.
why london never had a courier appreciation proclamation? why europe doens't have any?? lnd was the place where everything started in europe right? and it has the most long-lived messengers' zine right?and MT is also so committed and mindful of road safety and stuff and i bet any ciclysts appreciate that...
@overdrive, there s a copy with your name :) thanks!!! about the creative night, what sort of work/arguing?i mean, logistic or more temperamental? am in my motherland right now, back tomorrow night, but i don't know any better place where to ask than this...
I really try to get into it myself. I make the most of it sure, it's just me maybe a couple exenggers and possibly the guy who used my company to extend his unemployment a few times, every now and then some of my bar buddies buy into it and start buying me drinks. Then I ride home up the coastal trail shouting out the odd." Whoo hoo 10=9 day Anchorage!" If nobodies going to do anything for you, be good to yourself I say. Make it a party of one if you have to.
