has anyone here ever been a postman? is it better or worse than being a messenger?
  2.
Normally, IE, people who don't want to be couriers anymore get an INSIDE job for winter.

    Just a thought.

Dunno 'bout your area but when I was investigating being a postman it's £350 a week, not too bad if you ask me. You start at about 4.30 am and finish as fast as you do the round, earliest 11, latest 2ish according to the posties I chatted to. Your round does get changed every 3 weks or so so it hopefully doesn't get too boring.

See, I both like and hate the idea of getting up that early and finishing that early.

I had a job that was 6 til 2, had to wake at 4.30 to get there on time. It was nice getting out and about when no other fucker was about, and it was great finishing so early in the 'noon, but of course, you couldn't stay in the pub as late as everyone else, and when you finish work you have to wait hours to meet up with your mates.

I think it starts at about 240 a week up here. Sadly the only thing going at the moment is casual sorters, no actual deliver jobs exist at the moment...

Beware, however, that sorting offices seem (based on the experience of a couple of friends of mine) to be hotbeds of cuntery including the racist kind. This was a decade or so ago, so perhaps things have improved. I hope so, certainly.

On the upside, you can gather material for a great novel:

That may be a great novel, but I bet it's nowhere near as good as this .
