A good idea to tackle lorry drivers is via their paycheck, and use disciplinary action. The law is often not on the cyclist's side as we all know as they get let off with silly fines under £45 for dead cyclist sometimes. However, the law is much better if you tackle these people via their boss! I took photographs, reg number, date, time, place etc of a lorry driver clearly disobeying the Highway Code and being a dangerous hazard. I contacted his employers who said they will take disciplinary action if they feel the driver has disobeyed the Highway Code. Long lorries, with their back wheels, also curve onto the the kerb leaving no gap at all for the cyclist, and yet they know a cyclist is there. The film needs to see exactly how a long lorry driver turns and you can see the cyclist's side completely disappear.

PS I am new to this and it was supposed to go into the Lorries & Cyclist box!

I'm still up for all cyclists to be allowed to carry shotguns with a 10 second 'dickhead manoeuvre' retaliation time in the law. Drivers will soon think twice about that 5 second time saving move if they think they might catch a blast from an angry cyclist.

    LOL

Ya' know I'm pretty much a hardcore-thinks-the-NRA-isn't-militant-enough-firearm- enthusiast. I also live in a place where I can carry openly or concealed any firearm I can legally own (pistols, semi-automatic "assault" rifles, shotguns, etc.) but I don't. For any practical purposes trying to hit you're target from a moving bike is just too difficult and if you can stop and get into a good shooting position by then the life threatening bit is pretty much over. It is nice to think about though and believe me, I have. Just thought someone should bring up what an impractical idea it is in real life.
From a slow morning in Anchorage,

Dunno Kirk, I reckon it would be pretty easy to slide up on the drivers side, tap the window with your steel and... bap bap bap... Boom biddy bye bye...

Sawn off shotgun through the window drive by styles?

Recoil, you'd want to be moving in the direction you're shooting and not to mention the paper work they make you do to get a short barreled shotgun in the U.S. . Then there's the matter of not wanting to injure or kill innocent bystanders so, that makes the shotgun a little iffy. It would take a great deal of practice to be able to fire one handed (or even two handed) from a moving bike and be certain of hitting the deserving target with any weapon, even assuming we get an exemption in those pesky murder laws.Far better to get the plate and such. BTW the guys who drive the beer trucks here have been the nicest drivers so far, extra cautious going out of their way not to clip me. I'm wondering if part of the training for that job is a segment called. "Don't run over bike messengers, it's bad for business." The floral delivery vans however, those fuckers will try to take you out.

JP "I was thinking 9mm, less recoil, more penetration... "
Yeah but girth is important too. Seriously as nice is it is to think about I'd rather get the plates and track the bastard down either get him/her fired or take care of it the way my Daddy would. a little chat...a warning..........a nice cup of tea perhaps........

your dad drinks tea? isn't that the same as declaring you have an interest in men when you live in that part of the world? (I'm from eastern washington, I should know. My dad only drinks Coke)

I discovered a novel way to tackle rogue bus drivers.Actually,an ex-Metro rider gave me the idea. You know when bus drivers pull out on you,try to ram your rear wheel, squeeze you into the gutter?Well, wait 'til they get to the next stop then lift up the big flap at the back of the bus. There's an engine stop button under there.Turn the f*cking thing off then ride away while the driver goes absolutely mental! He cant start the bus up without getting out!!Of course this is totally illegal and I DO NOT condone this behavior.

    Nhattattack,
My point was you can't really do much when the lorry/truck/big thing that tried to kill you is actually trying to kill you even if such things were allowed, I was trying for a multi-cultural way of saying better to take notes and settle up later. In my part of the world that can mean many many things. BTW It's 3 am. my time it's A.F.N. week imagine the most rural people you have all in London all in rental cars in your core. Stressed Kirk? Just a tad

NO! let the red mist descend, anyway I've solved the problem now, d-lock to the window and drop a hand grenade in the vehicle, yeah sorted!

Also the bus shut off button is so good to do when the driver was blatantly endangering your life, it instantly relieves the stress of almost getting killed and the face of the bus driver as you ride past and wave with a grin on your face brightens up your day no end.

    *edit*

(oh yeah but don't do it, it's illegal you know)
