i wash the same base layer, jersey and pair of shorts every day. its boring. also think of the carbon footprint of washin clothes every day. its just not on. that lot £90 so i can hardly afford a set for every day of the week. maybe one for every 2 days of the week. but thats still a lot of carbon emissions. actually fuck that, I dont care about co2, i care about my electricity bill. so for a start im turnin this computer off. in the meantime, tell me about your choice of clothing. do you just wear cheap cotton stuff that you can buy loads of pairs of them and wash them all on one day of the week, or do you have only a few sets of quality wicking garments?
Steal £35 out of your 'better half's purse and get an Endura Baa Baa merino base layer. Cheaper online.
You can just about get away with wearing it for 2 days without washing it, maybe even 3 if you don't sweat much.
Spend another £3 on Ecover 'delicate' or some other wool-specific washing liquid (I just use normal stuff but apparently it's harsh on wool or something).
You are such a pikey. Couriering in the same clothes for more than one day smells. Cotton t-shirts are fine, cheap and you can layer them. If it gets cold put on your gortex.
If it's got salt lines on it dont put it back on. You'd have to be a right soapy f*cker to put lycra cycling shorts back on though.Have some f*cking self-respect,man!
"You are such a pikey. Couriering in the same clothes for more than one day smells. Cotton t-shirts are fine, cheap and you can layer them. If it gets cold put on your gortex."
Cotton t-shirts are shit. They trap sweat and they take forever to dry.
We have to wear cotton at metro as it's our uniform. I have never had a problem with it. It's cool in summer and as i said if you layer it and wear a gortex it's ok in winter. Ironeye you smell like a tramp. Maybe you should buy that shite thermal underwear and wear it down the tescos on a saturday morning and ask for spare change near the ATM (that's if they have ATM's in Brum yet).
Zack, how would you know what I smell like?! I smell like pure goodness. Ladies on reception often ask to sniff my armpits because they like the smell so much it makes them smile with delight.
Get two pairs of shorts. You wash yourself every night yeah? before you get in the shower/bath stick that days shorts in warm( not soapy) water in the sink and let 'em soak whilst you soak, when you get out pound and rub 'em a couple of times then hang 'em up to dry. Wear the other shorts the next day. Doesn't get 'em clean clean but enough so your better half lets you into the house on a Thurs and Fri night, also clean shorts help to cut down on those cyclists sores. Do the same with your base layers. Gonna have to go with the Merino rocks, cotton stinks crew. In fact pretty much anything other than cotton modern 'technical' fabrics may smell more but they do wick sweat away from your body, they do keep you warmer than cotton when wet and they do dry out quicker.
I'm starting to build a clear picture in my head of you ironeye. It seems you work all day and then don't wash at night, you wear the same clothes for a few days, you crash into peoples cars on purpose braking parts of their car off, you live in a fantasy world thinking receptionists enjoy your foul odour and you speak with a funny accent. Is their anything that i have missed?
I got to say I've noticed that people that aren't couriers tend to wash before work instead of after, I suppose they don't want to stink at work? (I have never pretend to understand such people)
If you are a courier fact is you are going to smell to some degree at work whatever so it makes a lot more sense for couriers to wash after work.
But get cheap base layers and 2 or 3 pairs of shorts and rotate them -any base layer is better than a sweaty one, and cotton is good for summer but shit for winter.
I didn't plan the wank, I did it on impulse. In fact it was so unplanned that I was unable to obtain any tissues, or even an old sock, so had to use my cupped hand to catch the erm... liquid.
I think over time and as you work at different companies, you wardrobe of riding gear builds up. I do actually have enough shorts to wear a different pair each day and a few different base layers. What I don't get is how people wear boxer shorts and courier... Surely thats as bad as wear the same shorts a fews days on?
