Winston in training for the Etape Anglais

Paul Churchill aka Winston, organiser of the London Courier Track days, ‘Speed Skill and Sausages’, is to ride the Etape Anglais (trans.: English Stage). The Etape Anglais will follow the exact route that the pros will ride during Stage 1 of the Tour de France this summer. At 120 miles, it is a serious undertaking, and about twice as far as any London cycle courier might ride in a day. According the Tour official web-site blurb, it will take in ‘some of Britain’s most picturesque and historic towns’. Bermondsey, Deptford, Abbey Wood, Erith, Gravesend… ...sounds like a really bad day at Metro!

Like the pros, Winston is doing for the glory, of course, but like the pros, he is also doing it for the money. Yes, he’s raising money for NCH. NCH is a charity which supports ‘some of the UK’s most vulnerable and excluded children and young people’, according to its web-site.

Winston is hoping to raise £1000 for the charity. If you want to help him reach that target, you can do so here.

The entry for Etape Anglais closed ages ago. If you’re looking for iinfo on how to get in, forget it. Or just ride it on the sly.
