The third edition of the Rapha rock ‘n’ roller extravaganza is taking place at Imbibe Bar, 173 Blackfriars Road, London, SE1 8ER, this Saturday 19th April, 7.30pm – midnight. Note that this is a change of venue! If you already have a ticket, ignore the address on it.
Flying the messenger flag will be Charlie, Overdrive and Dazzler in the male section. Sarah Bunnyhops, Chandra and reserve Nhatt will be aiming to win the women’s race. I hope that many MT readers will be able to come down and support them.
Tickets are available for the special messenger price of £5 from MT, or 3 for £14. I am not sure if there will be any available on the door. So if you wanna go, get in touch!
Roller racing on the web
Therese Bjorn, event organiser, and former Rollapaluza champion, wrote a brief history of roller-racing, including an interview with the UK’s only known professional roller-racer, Eddie Wingrave.
Moving Target’s brief history of Rollapaluza is here.
The guys at Rollapaluza have been very naughty indeed and uploaded a PDF of the recent excellent Cycling + article on Rollapaluza X. You can download that here.
There are two excellent editions of the Bike Show featuring Rollapaluza. The first one, recorded live at Rollapaluza IV (and including a very foul-mouthed interview with yours truly) is here. The second, featuring an interview with Simon Jackson, current Rollapaluza record holder, is here.
There are also heaps of reports of the last 3 years of Rollapaluza on this site. Go to the contents page, and click the Rollapaluza link to display them all.
And if you want to see the official Rollapaluza site, with more roller race reports and pictures than any other site on the internet, you can find it here.
And finally, Jono Atkinson’s excellent documentary on roller race, which featured in the Bicycle Film Festival can be found here.
