Rollapaluza VIII Sat 27th October 2007

The eighth edition of the London bicycle messenger culture extravaganza, featuring beats, bands, beer and static bicycle racing, is taking place at the Pleasure Unit, Bethnal Green Road, 27th October 2007.
Rollapaluza is a rock’n‘roller race. Competitors mounted on static bicycles, whose rear wheels are attached to an odometer, race each other in intense sprints often lasting less than 20 seconds. Once a popular entertainment in theatres and cinemas all over the UK, cycle couriers reinvented it as a rock’n‘roll night out for the 21st Century, reviving a sport that had been relegated to chilly mid-week evenings in sports-hall by putting on bands, djs, films as well as battling bikes in central London music venues.
