Guardian piece on Sheppard's death and trial by media
28.05.10 by Buffalo Bill
As you may or may not remember, last year a Toronto bike courier, Darcy Allan Sheppard was killed in an ‘incident’ with a car driven by a prominent member of Ontario’s political class. This week, the Special Prosecutor announced that the charges of “criminal negligence causing death and dangerous driving causing death”, which had been laid against the driver Michael Bryant had been dropped.
Comment is Free asked me to write a comment about it, so I did. The piece has gone live here.
I only want to add that the best place to read up all about the incident, with comments heavily slanted towards the cyclist’s perspective (and why not?) is at Bryant Watch, which is blogged by my old friend, Joe Hendry, a recipient of the Markus Cook Award.
